The Indiana Pacers and the New York Knicks do battle at Madison Square Garden on Monday night.
The Indiana Pacers have been in fine form as they’ve won five of their past seven games overall and they will be looking for a third straight victory after beating the 76ers in a 118-113 home win on Saturday. Justin Holiday led the team with 27 points on nine of 11 shooting off the bench, Myles Turner added 20 points with six blocks, Domantas Sabonis scored 18 points with 12 rebounds and five assists while Malcolm Brogdon tallied a triple-double of 13 points with 10 rebounds and 10 assists. As a team, the Pacers shot a sizzling 57 percent from the field and 14 of 28 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 70 points in the first half to lead by as many as 20 points, before escaping with the narrow win as the 76ers cut the lead to just five points with 2:57 remaining.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been in terrible shape as they’ve lost five of their past seven games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling short to the Hornets in a 104-96 road loss on Friday. Kemba Walker led the team with 26 points on nine of 19 shooting, Alec Burks added 15 points with nine rebounds off the bench while Julius Randle tallied 10 points with eight rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Knicks shot 38 percent from the field and 13 of 35 from the 3-point line as they poured in 34 points in the first quarter to storm out to an early 16-point lead, but they couldn’t hold onto the lead for long as the Hornets outplayed them the rest of the way to win comfortably in the end. Randle had a rough shooting night as he shot just four of 15 from the field while RJ Barrett had a night to forget as he scored just two points on one of nine shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pacers are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record, 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Knicks are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games, 1-5 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings overall and the Pacers are 6-13 ATS in the last 19 meetings in New York.
The Pacers are starting to get healthy again and it has had an immediate impact on their results as they’re now one of the hottest teams in the Eastern Conference. The Knicks haven’t had to deal with many injuries so far, but that hasn’t helped them as they’ve really been struggling lately and you have to point the finger at the starting lineup, especially after what we saw on Friday. These two teams are just headed in opposite directions at the moment, so I’m backing the Pacers to take advantage of a Knicks team that is just out of sorts right now.
