The Boston Celtics will be looking for revenge against the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Monday night.
The Boston Celtics have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their past six games, but they will be eager to bounce back in this one after having their two-game win streak halted by the Cavaliers in a 91-89 road loss on Saturday. Dennis Schroder led the team with 28 points on 10 of 19 shooting, Jayson Tatum added 21 points while Robert Williams tallied 12 points with 16 rebounds, three assists and three blocks. As a team, the Celtics shot just 42 percent from the field and six of 23 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates to an early double-digit lead after holding the Cavaliers to just nine points in the first quarter. However, all their hard work came undone when the Cavaliers opened the fourth quarter on a pivotal 15-2 run before escaping on free throws with 9.4 seconds remaining.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been one of the hottest teams in the league as they’ve won six of their past seven games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after taking down the Celtics on Saturday. Darius Garland led the team with 22 points and six assists, Evan Mobley added 19 points with nine rebounds and three blocks while Ricky Rubio chipped in with 16 points and seven assists off the bench. As a team, the Cavaliers shot just 38 percent from the field and 10 of 38 from the 3-point line as they got off to an ice-cold start and trailed by as many as 19 points before they outscored the Celtics by 29-15 in the fourth quarter to escape with the unlikely win.
Looking at the betting trends, the Celtics are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against a team above .600, 4-0 ATS in their last four road games and 6-0 ATS in their last six games overall. The Cavaliers are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 7-1 ATS in their last eight games overall.
The Cavaliers are the form team coming into this matchup and their confidence will be sky-high after coming back from a big deficit on Saturday. The Celtics will be kicking themselves after squandering a 19-point lead in Saturday’s loss and I doubt they’ll make the same mistake twice, but the Cavaliers managed to win despite Rubio shooting just four of 17 from the field and Isaac Okoro shooting zero of seven from the field. It’s always tough to beat the same team twice in a row, so I’m going with the Celtics to bounce back with a hard-fought win in this one.
