The Golden State Warriors invade the Spectrum Center to take on the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday night.
The Golden State Warriors have been the hottest team in the league so far as they’ve won 11 of their first 12 games and they will be eager to build on their current seven-game win streak after blowing past the Bulls in a 119-93 home win on Friday. Stephen Curry led the team with 40 points and five assists on 15 of 24 shooting, Andrew Wiggins added 15 points while Jordan Poole chipped in with 14 points, but no other player finished in double figures. As a team, the Warriors shot 48 percent from the field and 15 of 46 from the 3-point line as they held the Bulls to just 16 points to take a six-point lead into halftime, before exploding for 68 points in the second half to make it a complete blowout as they rode the hot hand of Curry who drained nine of 17 from the 3-point line.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets were in a real slump as they had lost six of seven games, but they’re now aiming for a third straight victory after stopping the Knicks in a 104-96 home win on Friday. Miles Bridges led the team with 24 points, Gordon Hayward added 22 points with seven assists, Terry Rozier scored 18 points while LaMelo Ball tallied 12 points with 17 rebounds, nine assists and five steals. As a team, the Hornets shot 43 percent from the field and 10 of 36 from the 3-point line as they got off to a slow start and fell behind by as many as 16 points in the first quarter, but they were a different team on the defensive end the rest of the way as they held the Knicks to just 41 points in the second half to escape with the comeback win.
Looking at the betting trends, the Warriors are 5-0-1 ATS in their last six games following a win of more than 10 points and 16-4-1 ATS in their last 21 games overall. The Hornets are 4-12-1 ATS in their last 17 games against a team above .600, 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following a win and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the under is 8-1 in the last nine meetings overall and the under is 5-0 in the last five meetings in Charlotte.
The Hornets have come to life with a couple of wins on the trot and they will take plenty of confidence from their win over the Knicks, but the Warriors are clearly the team in better form so it’s no surprise that they’ve opened as road favorites in this spot. Damion Lee is listed as questionable for the Warriors, but they are 16-4-1 ATS in their last 21 games overall and I think that trend continues here as Curry leads the way with another big game.
