The Washington Wizards and the Orlando Magic duke it out at the Amway Center on Saturday night.
The Washington Wizards have been in great shape as they’ve won eight of their first 11 games overall and they will be aiming to build on their current three-game win streak after sneaking past the Cavaliers in a 97-94 road win on Wednesday. Montrezl Harrell led the team in scoring with 24 points, 11 rebounds and three assists off the bench, Kyle Kuzma added 22 points while Bradley Beal chipped in with 13 points and seven assists. As a team, the Wizards shot 41 percent from the field and 10 of 28 from the 3-point line as they fell behind early after scoring just 20 points in the second quarter before closing the game on a 19-7 run to escape with the narrow win after trailing by nine points late.
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic have continued to struggle this season as they’ve lost nine of their first 12 games and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting thrashed by the Nets in a 123-90 home loss on Wednesday. Terrence Ross led the team in scoring with 17 points off the bench, Mo Bamba added 14 points with nine rebounds while Franz Wagner and Cole Anthony each scored 10 points. As a team, the Magic shot 38 percent from the field and a miserly four of 33 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep pace with the Nets right from the start and fell behind by double-digits early, before getting blown out in the fourth quarter where they managed just 15 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games, 20-7-1 ATS in their last 28 games against a team with a losing record and 27-12-1 ATS in their last 40 games overall. The Magic are 3-13-1 ATS in their last 17 home games, 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record and 8-20-1 ATS in their last 29 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 6-1 in the last seven meetings overall, the Wizards are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings overall and the Wizards are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Orlando.
Bradley Beal remains out due to personal reasons so the Wizards will be shorthanded once again, but they’ve been one of the form teams of the league so far and I like their chances to build on their three-game win streak against the Magic who didn’t look competitive in their 33-point loss to the Nets in their last outing. The Wizards are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Orlando and with the line so short, I’m backing that trend to continue in this spot thanks to another big game from Harrell.
