The Phoenix Suns and the Memphis Grizzlies collide at the FedExForum on Friday night.
The Phoenix Suns have been in great shape as they will be aiming to build on their current six-game win streak after taking down the Trailblazers in a 119-109 home loss on Wednesday. Frank Kaminsky led the team with a season-high 31 points on 12 of 18 shooting off the bench, Chris Paul added 21 points with seven assists while Jae Crowder and Devin Booker each scored 12 points. As a team, the Suns shot 52 percent from the field and 11 of 28 from the 3-point line as they took control of the contest with a 33-21 second quarter, before using another push in the fourth quarter to win comfortably in the end.
Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies have been in decent shape as they’ve won three of their past five games, but they will be eager to bounce back here after falling short against the slumping Hornets in a 118-108 road loss on Wednesday. Ja Morant led the team with 32 points, seven rebounds and eight assists, Dillon Brooks added 20 points and six assists off the bench while Jaren Jackson Jr. chipped in with 19 points. As a team, the Grizzlies shot just 42 percent from the field and nine of 38 from the 3-point line as they held the Hornets to just 21 points in the third quarter to get to within three points, before the Hornets exploded for 37 points in the fourth quarter to run away with it in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Suns are 47-22-1 ATS in their last 70 games against a team with a winning record, 5-0 ATS in their last five games following a win and 5-0 ATS in their last five games overall. The Grizzlies are 1-5 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record, 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a loss and 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a double-digit loss at home.
Head to head, the under is 6-1 in the last seven meetings overall.
The Suns have been in red-hot form lately, but they will be shorthanded once again as they will still be without DeAndre Ayton for this one. The Grizzlies were on a nice run themselves before falling short against the Grizzlies in their last outing but they too will be missing their center as Steven Adams is listed as questionable with a sprained right ankle. This game is a basically a coin flip, but I think there is just more to like about the Suns at this point of the season, so they represent decent value as the road underdogs here.
