The Boston Celtics play host to the Milwaukee Bucks at the TD Garden on Friday night.
The Milwaukee Bucks have been in decent shape as they’ve won three of their past five games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after routing the Knicks in a 112-100 road win on Wednesday. Pat Connaughton led the team in scoring with 23 points, nine rebounds and five assists off the bench, Jrue Holiday added 18 points with six assists while Giannis Antetokounmpo tallied 15 points with 15 rebounds, eight assists and two blocks. As a team, the Bucks shot 44 percent from the field and a sizzling 26 of 50 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in trouble after squandering a 24-point lead to the Knicks’ second unit, before pulling away in the fourth quarter behind a flurry of 3-pointers.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been building nicely as they’ve won three of their past four games and they will be eager to stay hot after blowing past the Raptors in a 104-88 home win on Wednesday. Jayson Tatum led the team in scoring with 22 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists, Dennis Schroder added 20 points while Robert Williams chipped in with 16 points and 13 rebounds. As a team, the Celtics shot 44 percent from the field and 10 of 29 from the 3-point line as they never trailed after taking the early lead with 62 points in the first half, before going on another run in the fourth quarter to lead by as many as 18 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Bucks are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games, 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games as a favorite. The Celtics are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 home games, 21-9 ATS in their last 30 games as a home underdog and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-0 in the last five meetings overall, the Bucks are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings overall and the Bucks are 3-8 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Boston.
The Bucks are still not at full strength, but they’re starting to heat up now and their confidence will be sky-high after outlasting the Knicks in a thrilling win on Wednesday. The Celtics have yet to fully hit their stride this season and they’re still without the injured Jaylen Brown, but they are coming into this game with plenty of momentum after routing the Raptors in their last outing. This is a tough one to pick as you could make an argument for either side here, but I’m sticking with the Bucks to escape with the narrow win and cover with the line so short.
