The Dallas Mavericks pay a visit to the Chicago Bulls at the United Center on Wednesday night.
The Dallas Mavericks have been in great form as they’ve won seven of their first 10 games and they will be looking to build on their current three-game win streak after routing the hapless Pelicans in a 108-92 home win on Monday. Luka Doncic led the team with 25 points and five assists, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Jalen Brunson each scored 17 points while Kristaps Porzingis chipped in with 12 points, eight rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Mavericks shot 50 percent from the field and 14 of 35 from the 3-point line as they were hardly challenged by the shorthanded Pelicans after taking the lead in the second quarter. The starters struggled except for Doncic and Hardaway Jr. but the Mavericks’ second unit was superb as they outscored the Pelicans’ bench by 42-10.
Meanwhile, the Chicago Bulls have been in similar shape as they’ve won seven of their first 10 games and they will be eager to stay hot after blowing out the Nets in a 118-95 home win on Monday. DeMar DeRozan led the team with 28 points on 10 of 20 shooting, Zach LaVine added 24 points with five assists while Nikola Vucevic chipped in with 11 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and three blocks. As a team, the Bulls shot 46 percent from the field and nine of 31 from the 3-point line as they squandered an early 10-point lead to trail by eight points, before exploding for 42 points in the fourth quarter to win in a blowout. The percentages weren’t great, but the Bulls played great defense on the Bulls while outscoring them in the paint by a telling 54-24.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team above .600 and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games overall. The Bulls are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a winning record, 6-2 ATS in their last eight home games and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall and the Mavericks are 0-3-1 ATS in the last four meetings overall.
The Mavericks are starting to heat up now as they followed up their buzzer-beating win over the Celtics with a dominant blowout win over Pelicans in their last outing, while the Bulls were able to arrest a two-game slide with an impressive comeback win over the Nets on Monday. You could make an argument for either side here, but the Mavericks are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games overall, while the Bulls are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall. With that being said, I’m leaning towards the Bulls to take care of business at home in this spot.
