The New York Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers collide at the Wells Fargo Center on Monday night.
The New York Knicks have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost three of their past four games and they will be hoping to get back in the win column after getting routed by the Cavaliers in a 126-109 home loss last night. Julius Randle led the team with 19 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, Derrick Rose added 17 points with five assists in a rare start while Evan Fournier chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Knicks shot 45 percent from the field and nine of 31 from the 3-point line as they looked to be right in the contest after taking the narrow lead into halftime, but they came out flat in the third quarter and got burned as the Cavaliers exploded for 70 points in the second half to make it look easy in the end. RJ Barrett had a night to forget as he finished with just six points on three of 13 shooting from the field.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have been on a tear lately as they will be aiming to build on their current six-game win streak after taking down the Bulls in a 114-105 road win on Saturday. Joel Embiid led the team with 30 points, 15 rebounds and three assists, Furkan Korkmaz provided the spark off the bench with 25 points on nine of 13 shooting while Shake Milton chipped in with 13 points, seven rebounds and six assists. As a team, the 76ers shot 53 percent from the field and 13 of 26 from the 3-point line as they poured in 35 points in the second quarter to build a 14-point lead, before escaping with the narrow win after the Bulls rallied to take the lead with 5:48 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games playing on zero days’ rest, 16-7 ATS in their last 23 road games and 13-6 ATS in their last 19 games as an underdog. The 76ers are 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight games against a team above .600, 5-1 ATS in their last six games as a favorite and 5-0 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 16-6 in the last 22 meetings in Philadelphia, the Knicks are 2-7 ATS in the last nine meetings in Philadelphia and the Knicks are 5-2-1 ATS in the last eight meetings overall.
The Knicks have really cooled off after a hot start to the season and their confidence took a major hit after getting routed by the Cavaliers in their own building last night. Rose did a nice job in the starting lineup last night, but they’re better off with him leading the second unit. The 76ers have been plagued by injuries but that hasn’t slowed them down at all as Embiid has put up big numbers despite playing through knee soreness. I’d be tempted to go with the Knicks if we were getting more points, but they’re playing on zero days’ rest and I think their struggles will continue for at least another game. Give me the 76ers to stay hot with another win and cover here.
