The Utah Jazz and the Orlando Magic duke it out at the Amway Center on Sunday night.
The Utah Jazz have been in great form as they’ve won seven of their first nine games overall, but they will be hoping to bounce back in this one after having their three-game win streak halted by the Heat in a 118-115 road loss on Saturday. Donovan Mitchell led the team with 37 points and seven assists on 14 of 28 shooting, Mike Conley added 18 points with seven assists, Bojan Bogdanovic scored 16 points while Royce O’Neale chipped in with 15 points and six steals. As a team, the Jazz shot 51 percent from the field and 15 of 45 from the 3-point line as they fell behind by as many as 19 points in the third quarter, before missing on the potential game-tying shot with 8.8 seconds remaining. Rudy Gobert had a quiet night of just eight points and eight rebounds while no bench player scored more than seven points.
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic have struggled to build momentum so far as they’ve lost eight of their first 10 games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting routed by the Spurs in a 102-89 home loss on Friday. Cole Anthony led the team with 21 points, nine rebounds and six assists, Wendell Carter Jr. added 13 points with 10 rebounds while Mo Bamba and Jalen Suggs each scored 12 points. As a team, the Magic shot 39 percent from the field and 12 of 41 from the 3-point line as they struggled right from the start, falling behind by 13 points at halftime, before the Spurs pushed the margin out to 16 points in the third quarter. Terrence Ross continues so struggle from the bench as he finished with just two points in 27 minutes of action while Gary Harris scored just three points on one of six shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Jazz are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 6-0 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record. The Magic are 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 home games, 2-6 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 7-19-1 ATS in their last 27 games overall.
Head to head, the Jazz are 9-2 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Orlando and the Jazz are 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Jazz were on absolute roll before they fell just short against the Heat in their last outing and they could’ve easily sent the game into overtime had their final shot dropped, so it’s no wonder that they’re big road favorites here. The Magic really haven’t given their fans much to be positive about so far this season, they’ve lost all their home games so far and they are only 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 home games. I’m sticking with the Jazz to bounce back with a big win here.
