The New York Knicks play host to the Cleveland Cavaliers at Madison Square Garden on Sunday night.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been in great shape as they’ve won six of their past eight games and they will be aiming for a fourth straight victory after sneaking past the surging Raptors in a 102-101 road win on Friday. Darius Garland led the team with 21 points and eight assists, Evan Mobley added 18 points, Cedi Osman drained five 3-pointers to finish with 17 points off the bench while Jarrett Allen tallied 16 points with 15 rebounds. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 46 percent from the field and 10 of 30 from the 3-point line as they trailed for most of the game after scoring just 20 points in the second quarter, before coming to life in the fourth quarter where they closed the final 9:00 with a 23-14 run to steal the game on free throws with just 4.8 seconds remaining.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been in decent form as they’ve won six of their first nine games overall and they will be looking to stay hot after taking apart the Bucks in a 113-98 road win on Friday. Julius Randle led the team with 32 points, 12 rebounds and four assists, Derrick Rose provided the spark off the bench with 23 points, eight rebounds and four assists while RJ Barrett chipped in with 20 points. As a team, the Knicks shot 42 percent from the field and 10 of 40 from the 3-point line as they got off to a rough start by falling behind by 21 points in the first quarter, but they clamped down defensively and turned the game around in the second half where they held the Bucks to just 35 points to win comfortably in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Cavaliers are 5-1 ATS in their last five road games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a win and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall. The Knicks are 0-4 ATS in their last four Sunday games, 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games following a win of more than 10 points and 19-9-1 ATS in their last 29 games following a win.
Head to head, the Cavaliers are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The Cavaliers have quietly emerged as one of the form teams in the Eastern Conference and their confidence will only grow after rallying past the Raptors in an impressive comeback road win on Friday. It’s a similar situation for the Knicks who are coming into this one fresh off a big win over the Bucks where they erased a 21-point deficit. I think the Knicks can stay hot with another win here, but with the line so hefty, I like the Cavaliers to hang around and get the cover.
