The Philadelphia 76ers invade the United Center to take on the Chicago Bulls on Saturday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers have been in great shape as they’ve won seven of their first nine games and they will be hoping to build on their current five-game win streak after routing the Pistons in a 109-98 road loss on Thursday. Seth Curry led the team with 23 points, Tyrese Maxey added 20 points with five assists, Joel Embiid scored 19 points with nine rebounds while Shake Milton chipped in with 16 points, eight rebounds and five assists. As a team, the 76ers shot 49 percent from the field and 12 of 32 from the 3-point line as they fell behind at halftime after allowing 66 points in the first half, before they put the clamps on in the second half where they outscored the Pistons by 46-32 to win easily in the end.
Meanwhile, the Chicago Bulls have been on a roll themselves as they’ve won six of their first eight games, but they will be hoping to bounce back after having their two-game win streak halted by the 76ers in a 103-98 road loss on Wednesday. DeMar DeRozan led the team with 37 points and 10 rebounds, Zach LaVine added 27 points while Lonzo Ball chipped in with 13 points and five assists. As a team, the Bulls shot 46 percent from the field and just six of 21 from the 3-point line as they struggled right from the start, scoring just 19 points in the first quarter to fall behind by double-digits early, before cutting the deficit to two points with just 29.9 seconds remaining.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games, 4-0 ATS in their last four games following a win and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall. The Bulls are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record, 5-1 ATS in their last six home games and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games overall.
Head to head, the over is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings in Chicago and the 76ers are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall.
The 76ers have hardly missed a step despite all their offseason dramas and it’s been a whole team effort rather than just Embiid putting up monster numbers. The Bulls have emerged as one of the new teams to watch this season and they were on fire before getting stopped by the 76ers, so they will be looking for revenge in this one. The 76ers are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall, but this is a new Bulls team and I think they can bounce back with a statement win at home in this one.
