The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Toronto Raptors collide at the Scotiabank Arena on Friday night.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been in great shape lately as they’ve won five of their last seven games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after outlasting the Trailblazers in a 107-104 home win on Wednesday. Jarrett Allen led the team with 24 points, 17 rebounds and four assists, Collin Sexton added 21 points on eight of 13 shooting while Darius Garland chipped in with 19 points and 10 assists. As a team, the Cavaliers shot a healthy 52 percent from the field and 15 of 30 from the 3-point line as they took control of the game with 37 points in the third quarter, before escaping with the narrow win by holding the Trailblazers to just three points in the final 3:03.
Meanwhile, the Toronto Raptors are currently one of the hottest teams in the league as they will be looking to build on their current five-game win streak after surprising the Wizards in a 109-100 road win on Wednesday. Fred VanVleet led the team with 33 points and six assists on 13 of 22 shooting, OG Anunoby added 21 points while Svi Mykhailiuk and Gary Trent Jr each scored 15 points. As a team, the Raptors shot 46 percent from the field and 10 of 25 from the 3-point line as they took control of the contest in the second quarter where they outscored the Wizards by 30-19 to build a 16-point lead, before cruising in the second half as the Wizards couldn’t mount any comeback.
Looking at the betting trends, the Cavaliers are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 17-41-1 ATS in their last 59 games against a team with a winning record. The Raptors are 1-8-1 ATS in their last 10 home games and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 6-2 in the last eight meetings overall and the Cavaliers are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings in Toronto.
The Cavaliers are surprisingly coming into this one with plenty of momentum after taking down the Trailblazers in their last outing, but they’ve run into a Raptors team who are quietly one of the hottest teams at the moment as they’re riding a five-game win streak. This is a tough one to pick as the Raptors are 1-8-1 ATS in their last 10 home games, but the Cavaliers are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings in Toronto. You can make an argument for either side here, but I’m sticking with the Raptors to build on their win streak in this one with another big game from VanVleet.
