The Brooklyn Nets and the Detroit Pistons duke it out at Little Caesars Arena on Friday night.
The Brooklyn Nets are really starting to heat up as they’ve won four of their past five games and they will be aiming for a fourth straight victory after taking down the Hawks in a 117-108 home win on Wednesday. Kevin Durant led the team with 32 points, seven rebounds and five assists on 13 of 20 shooting, Joe Harris added 18 points with six assists while James Harden chipped in with 16 points and 11 assists. As a team, the Nets shot 48 percent from the field and a sizzling 22 of 48 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 35 points in the first quarter, before their starters made another run in the third quarter where they outscored the Hawks by 34-20 to push the lead out to 17 points.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have really struggled this season as they’ve lost seven of their first eight games and they will be hoping to put an end to a three-game skid after last night’s 109-98 home loss to the 76ers. Jerami Grant led the team in scoring with 27 points, six rebounds and four assists, Cade Cunningham added 18 points with 10 rebounds and four assists while Kelly Olynyk chipped in with 11 points off the bench. As a team, the Pistons shot just 40 percent from the field and 11 of 36 from the 3-point line as they came out strong with 66 points in the first half to take the narrow lead into halftime, before getting completely outplayed in the second half where they managed just 32 points. Cunningham went ice-cold in the second half to finish with four of 17 shooting from the field while Saddiq Bey finished with just seven points on three of nine shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nets are 20-8 ATS in their last 28 games as a favorite and 16-5 ATS in their last 21 games against a team with a losing record. The Pistons are 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days’ rest and 2-10 ATS in their last 12 games overall.
The Pistons are getting a lot of points as the home underdog here, but they’re struggling to find consistent contributors outside of Grant which is why they’ve won just one game so far this season. The Nets have been in great form lately and they are more than capable of covering the spread against the Pistons who are only 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games. I’m taking the Nets to stay hot with another win and cover here.
