The Philadelphia 76ers and the Detroit Pistons duke it out at Little Caesars Arena on Thursday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers have been in great shape as they’ve won six of their first eight games and they will be looking to build on their current four-game win streak after taking down the Bulls in a 103-98 home win last night. Seth Curry led the team in scoring with 22 points on nine of 14 shooting, Joel Embiid tallied 18 points with nine rebounds and seven assists while Georges Niang chipped in with 18 points off the bench. As a team, the 76ers shot 49 percent from the field and 12 of 28 from the 3-point line as they jumped out to an early 18-point lead after holding the Bulls to just 19 points in the first quarter, before using a pivotal 12-2 run in the fourth quarter to escape with the win after the Bulls rallied to tie the score late.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have yet to take off this season as they’ve lost six of their first seven games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting routed by the Bucks in a 117-89 home loss on Tuesday. Jerami Grant led the team in scoring with 21 points on eight of 13 shooting while Trey Lyles added 13 points off the bench, but no other player scored more than eight points. As a team, the Pistons shot a miserable 32 percent from the field and eight of 47 from the 3-point line as they managed just 39 points in the first half to fall behind by 18 points at halftime, before the Bucks went on another run in the third quarter to blow the margin out to 36 points. Cade Cunningham had a rough night as he scored just six points on two of 14 shooting while Saddiq Bey scored just four points on two of 13 shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 4-1 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days’ rest and 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record. The Pistons are 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games, 0-6 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 2-10 ATS in their last 12 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 7-0 in the last seven meetings overall and the 76ers are 11-4 ATS in the last 15 meetings overall.
The 76ers have really started to heat up lately despite their injuries and they will take plenty of confidence from last night’s statement win over the surging Bulls. The Pistons have continued to struggle on a nightly basis as they’ve won just one game so far this season and they were far from competitive in their big loss to the Bucks on Tuesday. The 76ers are still missing Tobias Harris and Danny Green but they are 11-4 ATS in the last 15 meetings overall and they are also 4-1 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days’ rest, so I’m taking the 76ers to get the win and cover on the road in this one.
