The Portland Trailblazers and the Cleveland Cavaliers duke it out at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Wednesday night.
The Portland Trailblazers have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost three of their last five games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling short against the 76ers in a 113-103 road loss on Monday. Norman Powell led the team in scoring with 22 points on eight of 12 shooting, Damian Lillard added 20 points with seven rebounds and 10 assists, CJ McCollum added 20 points on eight of 20 shooting while Anfernee Simons chipped in with 17 points off the bench. As a team, the Trailblazers shot 47 percent from the field and 12 of 34 from the 3-point line as they hung in the contest early in the first half, but they couldn’t find their offense in the fourth quarter where they managed just 22 points to allow the 76ers to run away with it.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their last six games and they will be looking to stay hot after beating the Hornets in a 113-110 road win on Monday. Jarrett Allen led the team with 24 points, 16 rebounds and three blocks, Lauri Markkanen added 21 points with eight rebounds and three blocks, Collin Sexton scored 17 points while Darius Garland chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Cavaliers shot just 43 percent from the field and nine of 28 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 40 points in the first quarter to take an early 19-point lead, before hanging on for the narrow win as the Hornets cut the lead to just two points with 20.2 seconds remaining.
Looking at the betting trends, the Trailblazers are 0-5 ATS in their last five road games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game. The Cavaliers are 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 home games and 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a losing record.
Head to head, the over is 10-2 in the last 12 meetings in Cleveland and the Trailblazers are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The Trailblazers have yet to find their groove this season as Lillard is clearly going through a slump with averages of 18.6 points per game on 34.9 percent shooting from the field and 23 percent shooting from the 3-point line. The Cavaliers have been streaky so far, but they’re coming into this one with plenty of confidence after taking down the Hornets on Monday behind a big game from Allen. The Trailblazers are playing well below their best and they are 0-5 ATS in their last five road games, so I’m leaning towards the Cavaliers who represent decent value as the home underdogs here.
