The Boston Celtics pay a visit to the Orlando Magic at the Amway Center on Wednesday night.
The Boston Celtics have been in a real funk to start the season as they’ve lost five of their first seven games and they will be hoping to put an end to a three-game slide after getting routed by the surging Bulls in a 128-114 home loss on Monday. Jaylen Brown led the team in scoring with 28 points, seven rebounds and three assists, Jayson Tatum added 20 points on eight of 22 shooting while Al Horford racked up 20 points with 10 rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Celtics shot 43 percent from the field and 15 of 33 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in complete control after pouring in 103 points in three quarters to lead by as many as 19 points, before going ice-cold in the fourth quarter where they were outscored by 39-11 as the Bulls snatched the game from them late.
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic have lost six of their first eight games, but they will be eager to build some momentum after arresting a four-game losing streak with a 115-97 road win at Minnesota on Monday. Cole Anthony led the team with a game-high 31 points, nine rebounds and eight assists, Franz Wagner added 28 points while Wendell Carter Jr. and Jalen Suggs each scored 15 points. As a team, the Magic shot 45 percent from the field and 17 of 43 from the 3-point line as they did a nice job of hanging in the contest despite their 16 turnovers, before pulling off the ambush in the fourth quarter where they exploded for 43 points to escape with the much-needed win. Terrence Ross has struggled this season and had himself another quiet game of five points in 28 minutes off the bench.
Looking at the betting trends, the Celtics are 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games, 10-21-1 ATS in their last 32 games against a team with a losing record and 2-7 ATS in their last nine games overall. The Magic are 1-9-1 ATS in their last 11 home games, 2-7 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a losing record and 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall, the Celtics are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Orlando and the Celtics are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The Celtics haven’t been playing anywhere near their best this season and their confidence took another hit after blowing a 19-point lead to the Bulls in their last outing. The Magic have really struggled this season as they had lost six of seven before their impressive upset win over the Timberwolves on Monday. It’s hard to back either side with much confidence, but the Celtics are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Orlando and I think they can bounce back into form with a much-needed win here.
