The Boston Celtics play host to the Chicago Bulls at the TD Garden on Monday night.
The Chicago Bulls have been on a tear to start the season as they’ve won five of their first six games overall and they will be looking to stay hot after taking down the Jazz in a 107-99 home win on Saturday. DeMar DeRozan led the team with 32 points on 13 of 22 shooting, Zach LaVine added 26 points with five assists while Nikola Vucevic chipped in with 16 points and 12 rebounds. As a team, the Bulls shot 42 percent from the field and a miserly five of 21 from the 3-point line, but this win was all about their defense as they did a stellar job of holding the Jazz to just 15 points in the third quarter to turn a six-point deficit into a 17-point lead. The only blemish from the win was the shooting of Vucevic who made just four of 19 from the field.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have yet to find their groove this season as they’ve lost four of their first six games and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after falling painfully short to the Wizards in a 115-112 double overtime road loss on Saturday. Jaylen Brown led the team in scoring with 34 points on 14 of 24 shooting, Jayson Tatum added 27 points with 15 rebounds and three assists while Josh Richardson chipped in with 18 points off the bench. As a team, the Celtics shot 41 percent from the field and a miserable two of 26 from the 3-point line which was the difference in a close contest. Tatum had himself a rough shooting night as he made just 10 of 32 from the field while Dennis Schroder finished with just six points on one of seven shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Bulls are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games, 19-7 ATS in their last 26 games against a team with a losing record and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Celtics are 1-7 ATS in their last eight home games, 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the over is 20-8 in the last 28 meetings in Boston, the Bulls are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in Boston and the Bulls are 4-12 ATS in the last 16 meetings overall.
The Bulls have already emerged as one of the surprise teams of the league and their confidence will be sky-high after blowing past the surging Jazz in a quality home win on Saturday. The Celtics have endured a rough start to the season as they’ve won just two of their first six games and they are coming into this one fresh off a double-overtime loss to the Wizards. I get why the Celtics are favorites here, but they’ve yet to win a home game after two attempts and now they’re taking on a confidence Bulls team who just beat the Jazz. I’m taking the Bulls with the points in a game they could easily win outright.
