The Sacramento Kings invade the American Airlines Center to do battle with the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday afternoon.
The Sacramento Kings have been in decent form as they’ve won three of their first five games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after taking down the Pelicans in a 113-109 road win on Friday. De’Aaron Fox led the team with 23 points, seven rebounds and five assists, Richaun Holmes added 21 points on seven of eight shooting, Buddy Hield provided the spark off the bench with 20 points while Harrison Barnes chipped in with 18 points and 12 rebounds. As a team, the Kings shot 50 percent from the field and nine of 27 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 33 points in the first quarter to jump out to a 13-point lead, but they couldn’t shake off the Pelicans and had to rally in the fourth quarter where the Pelicans exploded for 37 points to make things interesting in the end.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have begun their season with three wins in their first five games and they were riding a three-game win streak before getting completely thrashed by the Nuggets in a 106-75 road loss on Friday. Luka Doncic led the team in scoring with 16 points, six rebounds and four assists while Trey Burke added 11 points off the bench, but no other player scored more than eight points. As a team, the Mavericks shot a miserable 29 percent from the field and just eight of 37 from the 3-point line as they fell behind by 10 points going into halftime, before getting completely blown off the floor in the third quarter by 33-12 as they just couldn’t find their offense. Doncic shot just five of 18 from the field, Tim Hardaway Jr. finished with just three points on one of seven shooting while Dorian Finney-Smith scored just two points on zero of seven shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Kings are 11-1 ATS in their last 12 road games, 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a winning record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a win. The Mavericks are 0-6 ATS in their last six home games, 6-2 ATS in their last eight games following a loss and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-0 in the last four meetings overall, the Kings are 21-6-1 ATS in the last 28 meetings overall and the Kings are 7-1 ATS in the last eight meetings in Dallas.
The Kings have been building nicely as they’ve won their last two games so it’s no surprise that they aren’t massive underdogs in this spot. The Mavericks were riding a three-game win streak before getting completely dismantled by the Nuggets in one of their worst losses in a long time. I expect the Mavericks to come out firing after laying an egg in their last outing, but the Kings are 11-1 ATS in their last 12 road games and 7-1 ATS in the last eight meetings in Dallas, so I’m taking the visitors with the points in this spot.
