The Utah Jazz pay a visit to the Houston Rockets at the Toyota Center on Thursday night.
The Utah Jazz have been one of the form teams in the league so far as they are now aiming for a fourth straight win to start the season after blowing past the Nuggets in a 122-110 home win on Tuesday. Rudy Gobert led the team with 23 points and 16 rebounds, Donovan Mitchell added 22 points with six assists, Jordan Clarkson added 19 points off the bench while Bojan Bogdanovic and Mike Conley each scored 15 points. As a team, the Jazz shot 51 percent from the field and 12 of 39 from the 3-point line as they went back and forth with the Nuggets in a real arm wrestle, until the fourth quarter where they held them to just 20 points to escape with the win.
Meanwhile, the Houston Rockets have been in rough shape as they’ve lost three of their first four games and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting stopped by the Mavericks in a 116-106 road loss on Tuesday. Eric Gordon led the team in scoring with 22 points on seven of 11 shooting off the bench, Christian Wood racked up 16 points with 17 rebounds and three assists, Daniel Theis scored 15 points with 10 rebounds while Kevin Porter Jr. chipped in with 13 points and eight assists. As a team, the Rockets shot just 41 percent from the field and 16 of 39 from the 3-point line as they got off to a quick start to take the lead going into halftime, but turnovers in the second half really cost them in the second half where the Mavericks outscored them by 59-46.
Looking at the betting trends, the Jazz are 5-1 ATS in their last six games as a road favorite, 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games overall. The Rockets are 6-21 ATS in their last 27 games as a home underdog, 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 7-1 ATS in their last eight games following a loss.
Head to head, the under is 6-1 in the last seven meetings in Houston and the Jazz are 6-2-1 ATS in the last nine meetings in Houston.
The line is a bit hefty for a road team, but the Jazz have been blowing past teams despite playing below their best, especially on the offensive end. The Rockets are capable of surprising a few teams this season as they still have plenty of firepower on their roster even though there isn’t a lot of continuity, but I don’t like their chances in this one. The Jazz are 6-2-1 ATS in the last nine meetings in Houston and I think that trend continues here as the Jazz roll to another easy win.
