The Boston Celtics play host to the Washington Wizards at the TD Garden on Wednesday night.
The Washington Wizards begun their season with two straight wins, but they are now looking to bounce back after getting stopped in their tracks by the Nets in a 104—90 road loss on Monday. Bradley Beal led the team with 19 points and four assists, Daniel Gafford added 13 points while Kentavious Caldwell-Pope chipped in with 11 points. As a team, the Wizards shot a miserly 34 percent from the field and nine of 39 from the 3-point line as they were slow off the blocks and could never find their way back into the contest after getting outscored by 38-20 in the first quarter. Spencer Dinwiddie scored just 10 points on three of 13 shooting while Deni Avdija scored just two points on zero of six shooting off the bench.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics are starting to heat up as they are now aiming for a third straight win after outlasting the Hornets in a 140-129 overtime road win on Monday. Jayson Tatum led the team with 41 points, seven rebounds and eight assists on 14 of 28 shooting, Jaylen Brown added 30 pints, Dennis Schroder tallied 23 points with eight assists while Robert Williams chipped in with 12 points, 16 rebounds, four assists and three blocks. As a team, the Celtics shot 49 percent from the field and 19 of 50 from the 3-point line as they struggled to hang with the Hornets for most of the game, falling behind by as many as 12 points, before rallying to steal the game in overtime.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 13-5-1 ATS in their last 19 road games and 22-9-1 ATS in their last 32 games overall. The Celtics are 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games, 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record and 7-15 ATS in their last 22 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-0 in the last five meetings overall, the Wizards are 3-12-1 ATS in the last 16 meetings in Boston and the Wizards are 4-1-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The Wizards were playing some decent basketball before getting ambushed by the Nets in their loss on Monday, so they’re a chance of pulling off the upset in this one. However, the Celtics have looked so much better in their last two games now that Tatum and Schroder have picked up their scoring. This should be a competitive one, but the Wizards are just 3-12-1 ATS in the last 16 meetings in Boston and I think that trend continues here.
