The Washington Wizards invade the Barclays Center to take on the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night.
The Washington Wizards will be aiming for a third straight victory to start the season after outlasting the Pacers in a thrilling 135-134 overtime home win on Friday. Spencer Dinwiddie led the team with 34 points and nine assists on 13 of 24 shooting, Kyle Kuzma added 26 points with 11 rebounds on 10 of 17 shooting, Raul Neto added 18 points off the bench while Davis Bertans chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Wizards shot 52 percent from the field and 19 of 38 from the 3-point line as they squandered a 12-point lead after scoring just 17 points in the fourth quarter, before rallying back from a six-point deficit in the overtime period to escape with the narrow win.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets will be hoping to bounce back in this one after getting routed by the Hornets in a 111-95 home loss last night. Kevin Durant led the team in scoring with 38 points on 17 of 24 shooting but he just didn’t have much help as James Harden added 15 points with seven rebounds and eight assists, while no one else finished in double figures. As a team, the Nets shot just 43 percent from the field and nine of 35 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in control in the first half, building a 10-point lead before getting completely blown out in the second half by 61-37.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 10-3-1 ATS in their last 14 road games, 8-17 ATS in their last 25 games playing on two days’ rest and 22-8-1 ATS in their last 31 games overall. The Nets are 13-3 ATS in their last 16 home games, 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games against a team above .600 and 14-5 ATS in their last 19 games overall.
Head to head, the Wizards are 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.
The Nets have come into this one as heavy favorites at home which is expected, but other than Kevin Durant and Patty Mills, the Nets have been far from convincing. On the other hand, the Wizards have won their first two games of the season and they should have Bradley Beal back in the lineup after he sat out the team’s thrilling overtime win over the Pacers on Friday. I think the Nets get the win here, but with the line so hefty, I think there is plenty of value with the underdog Wizards and the points in this one.
