The Boston Celtics and the Charlotte Hornets duke it out at the Spectrum Center on Monday night.
The Boston Celtics will be looking to build some momentum after snapping a two-game skid with a 107-97 road win at Houston last night. Jayson Tatum led the team with 31 points on 12 of 24 shooting, Dennis Schroder and Grant Williams each scored 18 points while Al Horford chipped in with 17 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and three blocks. As a team, the Celtics shot 44 percent from the field and 15 of 47 from the 3-point line as they endured a cold start and trailed by nine points early, before exploding for a combined 67 points in the second and third quarters to lead by as many as 20 points.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have really hit the ground running this season as they will be looking to build on their current three-game win streak after routing the Nets in a 111-95 road win last night. Miles Bridges led the team with 32 points and nine rebounds on nine of 16 shooting, LaMelo Ball added 18 points and five assists while Ish Smith chipped in with 15 points and four assists off the bench. As a team, the Hornets shot 45 percent from the field and 10 of 30 from the 3-point line as they struggled hang with the Nets in the first half, falling behind by 10 points before outscoring the Nets by 61-37 in a dominant second half to remain undefeated.
Looking at the betting trends, the Celtics are 0-4 ATS in their last four road games, 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games playing on zero days’ rest and 1-5 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record. The Hornets are 37-18-1 ATS in their last 56 games against a team with a losing record and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 home games against a team with a road record below .400.
Head to head, the over is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings overall, the Celtics are 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Charlotte and the Celtics are 19-6-1 ATS in the last 26 meetings overall.
The Celtics were finally able to snap out of their funk with a much-needed win over the Rockets last night, but they’re going to have to be at their best in this one as the Hornets have quietly been one of the hottest teams in the league so far with three straight wins to start their season, including a blowout win over the Nets last night. The Celtics are 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Charlotte, but I’m sticking with the red-hot Hornets to keep their streak alive with another win here.
