The Dallas Mavericks invade the Scotiabank Arena to do battle with the Toronto Raptors on Saturday night.
The Dallas Mavericks will be going back to the drawing board after getting completely routed by the Hawks in a 113-87 road loss on Thursday. Luka Doncic led the team with 18 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, Jalen Brunson added 17 points off the bench while Tim Hardaway Jr. chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Mavericks shot just 33 percent from the field and 13 of 43 from the 3-point line as they struggled right from the start, falling behind by seven points going into halftime, before getting completely blown out in the third quarter where they trailed by as many as 30 points. Dorian Finney-Smith finished with just five points on two of 12 shooting while Porzingis scored just 11 points on four of 13 shooting.
Meanwhile, the Toronto Raptors will be looking to stay hot in this one after blowing past the Celtics in a 115-83 road win last night. Scottie Barnes led the team with 25 points and 13 rebounds on 11 of 17 shooting, Gary Trent Jr. added 20 points, Precious Achiuwa scored 15 points with 15 rebounds while Fred VanVleet chipped in with 11 points, nine assists and three steals. As a team, the Raptors shot 42 percent from the field and 10 of 35 from the 3-point line as they took the early lead, before making it a complete blowout in the second half where they outscored the Celtics by 64-36. It was a much better performance from the Raptors after they laid an egg in the season opener and the only blemish from the win was OG Anunoby who shot just four of 18 from the field.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a losing record and 0-6 ATS in their last six games playing on one days rest. The Raptors are 0-5-1 ATS in their last six home games and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games as an underdog.
Head to head, the under is 10-4-1 in the last 15 meetings in Toronto.
The Mavericks made plenty of noise after going undefeated in preseason, but they came back down to Earth with a tough loss to the Hawks in their season opener on Thursday. The Raptors also lost their first game of the season, but they looked like a different team against the Celtics last night, so they will be looking to carry that momentum into this one. I’m tempted to take the Raptors as the home underdog, but the Mavericks have the slight advantage of extra rest here and I think they’ll bounce back in this one behind a big game from Doncic.
