The Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets meet Friday in NBA action at the Toyota Center. The Oklahoma City Thunder need a win after losing their opener to the Jazz. The Houston Rockets also need a win after getting waxed by the Timberwolves.
The Oklahoma City Thunder are averaging 86 points on 37.4 percent shooting and allowing 107 points on 44 percent shooting. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is averaging 18 points and four rebounds, while Darius Bazley is averaging 15 points and seven rebounds. Jeremiah Robinson-Earl is the third double-digit scorer and Tre Mann is dishing one assist. The Oklahoma City Thunder are shooting 20 percent from beyond the arc and 61.1 percent from the free throw line. The Oklahoma City Thunder are allowing 29.8 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 50 rebounds per game.
The Houston Rockets are averaging 106 points on 45.5 percent shooting and allowing 124 points on 48.3 percent shooting. Christian Wood is averaging 16 points and nine rebounds, while Eric Gordon is averaging 15 points and two rebounds. Daniel Theis is the third double-digit scorer and Kevin Porter Jr. is grabbing three rebounds. The Houston Rockets are shooting 33.3 percent from beyond the arc and 68.2 percent from the free throw line. The Houston Rockets are allowing 42.1 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 41 rebounds per game.
The Thunder are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 road games and 8-22 ATS in their last 30 games overall. The Rockets are 15-36 ATS in their last 51 home games and 17-35 ATS in their last 52 games overall. The under is 16-6 in Thunder last 22 road games. The over is 7-2 in Rockets last 9 overall. The Thunder are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings.
I'm not running to the window to back either of these teams, especially in the favorite role. However, the Rockets are probably the better, more talented team, and they're at home here. OKC has depth issues offensively and has been downright awful against the spread dating back to last season. I have slightly more confidence in the Rockets here, but again, there are better options out there on a stacked Friday card.
