The Denver Nuggets and Phoenix Suns meet Wednesday in game two of the NBA Playoffs Second Round at the Phoenix Suns Arena. The Nuggets need a win here to even up the series at 1-1. The Suns look for another win to take a solid 2-0 series lead.
The Denver Nuggets are averaging 118.6 points on 47.1 percent shooting and allowing 119.9 points on 48.5 percent shooting. Nikola Jokic is averaging 31.4 points and 10.3 rebounds while Michael Porter Jr. is averaging 18.3 points and 6.7 rebounds. Monte Morris is the third double-digit scorer and Aaron Gordon is grabbing 6.1 rebounds. The Denver Nuggets are shooting 39.8 percent from beyond the arc and 80.9 percent from the free throw line. The Denver Nuggets are allowing 40.9 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 43.9 rebounds per game.
The Phoenix Suns are averaging 106.6 points on 47 percent shooting and allowing 98.6 points on 42.2 percent shooting. Devin Booker is averaging 28.4 points and 5.4 assists while Deandre Ayton is averaging 16.4 points and 10.6 rebounds. Jae Crowder is the third double-digit scorer and Cameron Payne is dishing 3.3 assists. The Phoenix Suns are shooting 36.2 percent from beyond the arc and 84 percent from the free throw line. The Phoenix Suns are allowing 30.8 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 42.1 rebounds per game.
The Nuggets are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games as an underdog and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Suns are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The over is 7-1 in Nuggets last 8 overall. The over is 23-10-1 in Suns last 34 overall. The Nuggets are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Phoenix and 14-6 ATS in the last 20 meetings.
The Nuggets and this many points is hard to pass up. However, we've seen the Nuggets have defensive issues in past playoff games and those concerns showed up in game one on Monday. If the Nuggets are going to allow the Suns to shoot 50-plus percent from the field, they're going to get run off the court. I have the Suns winning this series and also like their chances to come out of the West. I'm not in love with the line, but it's Suns or pass for me.
