The New York Knicks hope to square up the series against the Atlanta Hawks in Game 4 at the State Farm Arena on Sunday afternoon.
The New York Knicks must’ve been so full of confidence after their thrilling comeback win in Game 2, but they fell flat on their faces in a 105-94 loss to the Hawks in Game 3. Derrick Rose led the team with a vintage performance of 30 points with six rebounds and five assists on 13 of 21 shooting, but he had next to no help from his teammates as Julius Randle added just 14 points on two of 15 shooting while RJ Barrett added just seven points on two of nine shooting. As a team, the Knicks shot just 35 percent from the field and nine of 30 from the 3-point line as they came out hot with 31 points in the first quarter, before going ice-cold in the second quarter where they scored just 13 points to have them trailing the rest of the way.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks must’ve been cheering in the locker rooms after taking care of reclaiming the series lead with a solid win in Game 3. Trae Young steered the offense with 21 points and 14 assists, Bogdan Bogdanovic added 15 points with eight rebounds and three assists, John Collins added 14 points while Clint Capela chipped in with 13 points and 12 rebounds. As a team, the Hawks shot a healthy 51 percent from the field and an efficient 16 of 27 from the 3-point line as they took control of the contest in the second quarter and never let go as the Knicks didn’t mount any comeback down the stretch.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 12-5-1 ATS in their last 18 games against a team with a winning record, 13-4 ATS in their last 17 road games and 36-16-1 ATS in their last 53 games overall. The Hawks are 19-7 ATS in their last 26 home games, 5-1 ATS in their last six playoff games as a favorite and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall, the Knicks are 18-7-1 ATS in the last 26 meetings in Atlanta and the Knicks are 7-2-1 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall.
The Knicks came back down to Earth with a tough loss in Game 3 and you have to point the finger at Julius Randle who simply had one of his worst games of his career and RJ Barrett who has yet to make his mark on this series. The Hawks have every right to be confident coming into Game 4 as the Knicks have yet to find a way to slow down Young and I think that continues in this one as the Hawks grind out a narrow win and cover here.
