Thursday is a lighter day across the NBA Landscape with only six games on the board. Even with a lighter schedule there is still plenty of value in each of the games. Let’s take a look at each game and give a free pick on each of the games.
Dallas Mavericks (-8.5) at Detroit Pistons Total: 214.5
The Dallas Mavericks have been a little inconsistent as of late but they were impressive in their last game against the Golden State Warriors putting up 133 points. Luka Doncic finished the game with 39 points and he is going to be the difference-maker in this game. The Pistons defense has struggled this season and it will let them down in this game. The last time these two teams played the Mavericks scored 127 points. Back the Mavericks to come away with a win and a cover of the spread. There should also be plenty of scoring and the over will cash.
Pick: Mavericks -8.5
Brooklyn Nets (-9) at Indiana Pacers Total: 236.5
This is going to be a game where is plenty of scoring by both teams. The Pacers are coming off a game where they gave up 133 points to the Portland Trail Blazers and they are going to struggle to play any defense against a strong Nets offense. Two games ago against the Suns, the Nets gave up 128 points. Look for an up tempo game and for this game to go well over the posted total. Back the over.
Pick: Over
Milwaukee Bucks (-13.5) at Houston Rockets Total: 231
The Houston Rockets have really struggled this season and the team has shut down John Wall for the season. This is a very young Rockets team now, and their offense hasn’t been good enough. Over the last five games, the Rockets have only scored more than 107 points once The Rockets also don’t play a whole lot of defense and the Bucks are going to take advantage. Just a few games ago, the Bucks were able to beat the 76ers 132-94. Back the Bucks to win the game and cover the spread.
Pick: Bucks -13.5
Golden State Warriors at Minnesota Timberwolves (+2.5) Total: 235
It’s amazing what can happen for the Minnesota Timberwolves when they are healthy. The Wolves have D'Angelo Russell back and he has been an elite player off the bench. Anthony Edwards also looks to be a superstar in the making. The Wolves have won three games in a row including two games over the Utah Jazz. In this game look for another big game from Karl-Anthony Towns and Russell which will be the difference. The Warriors defense looked awful in the last game and that will let them down. Back the Timberwolves against the spread.
Pick: Timberwolves +2.5
New Orleans Pelicans (-8.5) at Oklahoma City Thunder Total: 228.5
One of the biggest bright spots across the entire NBA this season has been the emergence of Lu Dort who looks like a player that the Thunder are going to be able to lean on for years to come. In the last game against the Boston Celtics, he paced the Thunder with 24 points, four rebounds, and two assists. The Pelicans will be playing on the second night of a back to back and their tired legs are going to hurt them. Back the Thunder against the spread.
Pick: Thunder +8.5
Toronto Raptors at Denver Nuggets (-4) Total: 223.5
The Nuggets are still adjusting to life without Jamal Murray and even though they might not be an NBA title contender anymore, they are still a really good team. On Monday against the Grizzlies, the defense locked down giving up only 96 points. Michael Porter Jr has done a good job of carrying the team and in the last game he put up 31 points in 36 minutes. I expect another good defensive game and the Nuggets covering the spread.
Pick: Nuggets -4
