The Dallas Mavericks play host to the Philadelphia 76ers at the American Airlines Center on Monday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers have been in fine form lately as they’ve won eight of their past 12 games and they will be looking to stay hot after routing the slumping Thunder in a 117-93 road win on Saturday. Joel Embiid led the team with 27 points, nine rebounds and four assists, Furkan Korkmaz added 20 points with five steals while Ben Simmons and Mike Scott each scored 13 points. As a team, the 76ers shot 46 percent from the field and 12 of 38 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 37 points in the first quarter to take the early double-digit lead which they were able to hold onto until the end of the game as the hapless Thunder just didn’t have the firepower to hang in the contest.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have been in great form as they’ve won six of their past eight games but they are looking to bounce back in this one after last night’s heartbreaking 119-117 home loss to the Spurs. Kristaps Porzingis led the team with 31 points and 15 rebounds, Luka Doncic added 29 points with seven assists on 10 of 17 shooting while Josh Richardson chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Mavericks shot 47 percent from the field and 13 of 42 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in control after taking the lead at halftime, before the Spurs poured on 68 points in the second half capped by the game-winner from DeMar DeRozan with just 0.5 seconds remaining.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 road games and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games playing on one days’ rest. The Mavericks are 7-2 ATS in their last nine home games, 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Dallas, the 76ers are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in Dallas and the 76ers are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The 76ers have been building nicely as Embiid continues to work his way back into shape and they will be full of confidence after beating up on the hapless Thunder on Saturday. The Mavericks were on a roll before getting stopped by the struggling Spurs last night, so they will be keen to bounce back at home. You can make an argument for either side in this matchup, but I’m leaning towards the 76ers with the points in a game they could easily win.
