The New Orleans Pelicans pay a visit to the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Sunday night.
The New Orleans Pelicans have been in decent shape as they’ve split their last eight games and they will be looking to build some momentum after taking down the red-hot 76ers in a 101-94 home win on Friday. Zion Williamson led the team with 37 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists, Brandon Ingram added 17 points while Jaxson Hayes chipped in with 12 points off the bench. As a team, the Pelicans shot just 43 percent from the field and a miserly four of 22 from the 3-point line, but this win was about their defense in the third quarter where they held the 76ers to just 18 points. Ingram had a rough shooting night as he shot just five of 21 from the field, they kept a lid on the 76ers’ Joel Embiid which was key to the win.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been in a slump as they’ve lost six of their past eight games and they will be looking to bounce back after getting blown out by the Raptors in a 135-115 home loss last night. Collin Sexton led the team with 29 points and five assists, Darius Garland added 19 points with eight assists while Kevin Love chipped in with 18 points on four of nine shooting. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 45 percent from the field and 15 of 35 from the 3-point line, but this game was over in the blink of an eye as the Raptors exploded for 47 points in the first quarter, before pouring in another 40 points in the second quarter to put them behind by 38 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pelicans are 4-0 ATS in their last four Sunday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team below .400. The Cavaliers are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 1-5 ATS in their last six Sunday games.
Head to head, the Pelicans are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Pelicans will be looking to maintain their momentum after taking down the red-hot 76ers in a nice upset on Friday, while the Cavaliers came to life with a couple of wins on the trot before getting completely blown out by the Raptors last night. The Pelicans will again be without Lonzo Ball who is dealing with a hip injury, but they should still have more than enough to get past the Cavaliers in this spot.
