The New York Knicks invade the TD Garden to take on the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night.
The New York Knicks have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their last five games and they will be looking to bounce back in this one after falling just short to the Nets in a 114-112 road loss on Monday. RJ Barrett led the team with 22 points on seven of 13 shooting, Reggie Bullock drained five 3-pointers on his way to 21 points while Julius Randle racked up a triple-double of 19 points with 15 rebounds and 12 assists. As a team, the Knicks shot 46 percent from the field and 14 of 29 from the 3-point line as they dominated the first half to lead by as many as 14 points, but they couldn’t keep up the pace in the second half and just missed out on forcing overtime after Randle missed the potential game-tying shot with time expiring.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their past seven games, but they will be looking to bounce back here after having their two-game win streak halted by the 76ers in a 106-96 home loss last night. Jayson Tatum led the team with 20 points and four assists, Jaylen Brown added 17 points while Kemba Walker and Marcus Smart each scored 14 points, but no other player scored more than six points. As a team, the Celtics shot 47 percent from the field and 14 of 34 from the 3-point line as they struggled to get going and fell behind by 13 points at halftime, before getting blown out in the third quarter where the margin grew to 21 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games, 4-0 ATS in their last four road games against a team with a winning home record and 17-8-1 ATS in their last 26 games overall. The Celtics are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games playing on zero days’ rest, 6-13 ATS in their last 19 games against a team with a losing record and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the under is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings in Boston and the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall.
The Knicks have fallen off the pace lately with four losses in their last five outings and they will be kicking themselves after falling just short to their rival Nets on Monday. Meanwhile, the Celtics were on a nice run before getting stopped in their tracks by the red-hot 76ers last night and they will again be without Evan Fournier who was a late scratch last night due to health and safety protocols. This should be a close one, but I just feel there’s a bit more to like about the way the Celtics have been playing lately and I think they can bounce back with a win and cover here with the line so short.
