The Philadelphia 76ers play host to the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday night.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been in a bit of a rut as they've lost six of their past eight games and they will be looking to bounce back after last night's 120-108 road loss to the Grizzlies. Karl-Anthony Towns led the team with 30 points, 16 rebounds, and two assists, Anthony Edwards added 22 points with six assists while Naz Reid chipped in with 18 points and five rebounds off the bench. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 44 percent from the field and 12 of 33 from the 3-point line as they found themselves in a close contest with the Grizzlies, but they couldn't keep up the pace in the second half where they were outscored by 52-42. Malik Beasley had a night to forget as he scored just five points on two of 12 shooting.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have been in red-hot form as they've won 11 of their past 14 games and they will be looking to stay hot after routing the Cavaliers in a 114-94 road win on Thursday. Shake Milton led the team with 27 points on 10 of 14 shooting off the bench, Seth Curry added 19 points, Dwight Howard scored 18 points with 15 rebounds and two blocks while Tobias Harris chipped in with 12 points in just 15 minutes of action. As a team, the 76ers shot 43 percent from the field and 15 of 37 from the 3-point line as they led by just two points at halftime, before holding the Cavaliers to just 38 points in the second half to win easily in the end. Ben Simmons was hardly required as he scored just five points on two of 11 shooting in just 24 minutes.
Looking at the betting trends, the Timberwolves are 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven games playing on zero days' rest and 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight Saturday games. The 76ers are 34-15-2 ATS in their last 51 home games, 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record, and 10-3-1 ATS in their last 14 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 7-2-1 in the last 10 meetings in Philadelphia, the TImberwolves are 0-6 ATS in the last six meetings in Philadelphia and the Timberwolves are 1-11 ATS in the last 12 meetings overall.
The Timberwolves haven't been able to build any momentum lately and their confidence must've taken a hit after last night's blowout loss to the Grizzlies, while the 76ers have been one of the hottest teams in the league lately and just blew past the struggling Cavaliers in a 20-point win on Thursday. The Timberwolves are 1-11 ATS in the last 12 meetings overall and I think that trend continues here as the 76ers should be too good for the Timberwolves who are playing on zero days' rest.
