The Charlotte Hornets and the Washington Wizards at the Capital One Arena on Tuesday night.
The Charlotte Hornets have been in decent shape as they've won seven of their past 11 games, but they will be looking to bounce back here after having their 3-game win streak snapped by Suns in a 101-97 overtime home loss on Sunday. Devonte Graham led the team with drained seven 3-pointers on his way to 30 points, Terry Rozier added 22 points with 10 rebounds, Miles Bridges provided the spark off the bench with 18 points and 12 rebounds while Gordon Hayward chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Hornets shot 40 percent from the field and 13 of 43 from the 3-point line as they rallied back from a 16-point deficit to force overtime, only to fall short in overtime as the Suns escaped on free throws down the stretch.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in rough shape as they’ve lost eight of their past 11 games, but they will be aiming for a third straight win after last night’s 132-124 home win over the Pacers. Russell Westbrook led the way with a triple-double of 35 points with 14 rebounds and 21 assists, Rui Hachimura added 26 points with eight rebounds and three assists while Chandler Hutchison chipped in with 18 points off the bench. As a team, the Wizards shot 55 percent from the field and 10 of 19 from the 3-point line as they trailed at halftime, before pouring 75 points in the second half as the second unit ran riot behind Raul Neto and Chandler Hutchison who shot a combined 15 of 20 from the field.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hornets are 34-16-1 ATS in their last 51 games against a team with a losing record and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall. The Wizards are 24-7 ATS in their last 31 games playing on zero days’ rest and 5-1 ATS in their last six home games against a team with a losing road record.
Head to head, the over is 9-2 in the last 11 meetings in Washington and the Hornets are 2-8 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Washington.
Malik Monk sat out the Hornets’ last game with a sore foot, but he is expected to return to the lineup, while Bradley Beal is listed as questionable with a bruised right hip. The Hornets are coming into this matchup as the team in better form, while the Wizards could be shorthanded once again as Beal could sit out his third straight game. The Wizards are also playing this game on zero days’ rest, so I’m taking the Hornets to get the win and cover in this one.
