The Minnesota Timberwolves and the Brooklyn Nets duke it out at the Barclays Center on Monday night.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their last five games and they will be hoping to bounce back in a hurry after getting routed by the slumping Rockets in a 129-107 home loss on Saturday. Karl-Anthony Towns led the team with 27 points with 15 rebounds and four assists, Anthony Edwards added 27 points on 11 of 22 shooting while Jaden McDaniels chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 42 percent from the field and 13 of 40 from the 3-point line as they got off to a terrible start and quickly found themselves trailing by 26 points at halftime. Malik Beasley had a night to forget as he scored just 13 points on four of 17 shooting while no bench player finished in double figures in scoring.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have been in great form as they’ve won 17 of their last 20 games and they will be looking to stay hot after sneaking past the Pistons in a 113-111 road win on Friday. James Harden led the team with 44 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists on 14 of 30 shooting, Blake Griffin added 17 points off the bench against his former team while DeAndre Jordan chipped in with 10 points, but no other player finished in double figures. As a team, the Nets shot 44 percent from the field and 13 of 33 from the 3-point line as they squandered an early 13-point lead, before escaping with a narrow win after gifting the Pistons a possession to steal the game in the final seconds.
Looking at the betting trends, the Timberwolves are 2-6 ATS in their last eight road games, 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Nets are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record, 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the Timberwolves are 24-8 ATS in the last 32 meetings overall.
The Timberwolves haven’t been able to get much going despite big games from Towns and their confidence must have taken a bit hit from their bad loss to the ice-cold Rockets. The Nets are coming into this one red-hot as Harden was able to keep the team afloat despite their injuries, but Kyrie Irving is expected to return which is a major boost for the Nets who don’t need any help at the moment. The line is a little hefty, but I think the Nets stay hot with another win and cover behind a big game from Irving.
