The Minnesota Timberwolves play host to the Houston Rockets at the Target Center once again on Saturday night.
The Houston Rockets have been in a serious slump as they’ve lost 22 of their past 23 games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling just short to the Timberwolves in a 107-101 road loss last night. Christian Wood led the team with 24 points, nine rebounds and one block, Ben McLemore added 21 points, John Wall scored 14 points with 15 assists, while Sterling Brown chipped in with 11 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks. As a team, the Rockets shot 42 percent from the field and 17 of 44 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in control after leading by as many as 19 points, before getting completely blown out in the fourth quarter where they managed a measly 10 points.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been in a slump of their own as they’ve lost 14 of their last 18 games, but they will be looking to build some momentum after last night’s thrilling comeback win over the Rockets. Karl-Anthony Towns led the team with 29 points, 16 rebounds and eight assists, Juan Hernangomez added 19 points with nine rebounds, Naz Reid scored 16 points while Anthony Edwards chipped in with 12 points on four of 17 shooting. As a team, the Timberwolves shot just 37 percent from the field and 10 of 38 from the 3-point line as they trailed by 19 points, before taking over in the fourth quarter where they outscored the Rockets by 31-10.
Looking at the betting trends, the Rockets are 2-7 ATS in their last nine road games, 17-40 ATS in their last 57 games against a team with a losing record and 15-38 ATS in their last 53 games overall. The Timberwolves are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games playing on zero days’ rest, 16-37-1 ATS in their last 54 home games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 11-3 in the last 14 meetings in Minnesota and the Rockets are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Rockets have been the coldest team in the league and they will be so disappointed with themselves after blowing a 19-point lead against the Timberwolves last night. It’s always tough to beat the same team twice in a row, but the Rockets are only 2-7 ATS in their last nine road games and you couldn't back them with any confidence, so I'm taking the Timberwolves to make it two wins in a row with another big effort here.
