The Phoenix Suns pay a visit to the Toronto Raptors at the Amalie Arena on Friday night.
The Phoenix Suns have been in great shape as they’ve won nine of their past 12 games and they will be hoping to bounce back after having their three-game win streak halted by the Magic in a 112-111 road loss on Wednesday. Devin Booker led the team with 25 points and seven assists, Chris Paul added 23 points with seven assists, DeAndre Ayton scored 21 points while Jae Crowder chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Suns shot 44 percent from the field and 11 of 33 from the 3-point line as they surrendered a 13-point lead to lose by the smallest margin after the Magic stole the game on the back of a clutch layup from Evan Fournier with just 6.4 seconds remaining to steal the game late.
Meanwhile, the Toronto Raptors have been in a real slump as they’ve lost 11 of their past 13 games, but they will be feeling much better after arresting a nine-game slide with a 135-111 home win over the Nuggets on Wednesday. Pascal Siakam led the team with 27 points, eight rebounds and six assists, OG Anunoby added 23 points, Norman Powell scored 22 points in his last game for the Raptors, while Fred VanVleet chipped in with 19 points. As a team, the Raptors shot 50 percent from the field and a sizzling 24 of 48 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates with 72 points in the first half to take an early double-digit lead, before pouring in another 37 points in the fourth quarter to make it a blowout.
Looking at the betting trends, the Suns are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games against a team with a losing home record, 20-7 ATS in their last 27 road games and 37-14 ATS in their last 51 games overall. The Raptors are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games, 7-1 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the under is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings in Toronto, the Suns are 19-6-1 ATS in the last 26 meetings overall and the Suns are 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings in Toronto.
The Raptors made some noise just before the trade deadline as they traded away Nroman Powell for Rodney Hood and Gary Trent Jr. and they will be hoping to build some momentum after beating the red-hot Nuggets on Wednesday, while the Suns were on fire before getting stopped by the Magic in a shock loss on Wednesday. The Raptors have been struggling lately and they just traded away Powell who was having a career-best season, so I’m taking the Suns to bounce back with a win and cover here.
