The Portland Trailblazers and the Miami Heat duke it out at the American Airlines Arena on Thursday night.
The Portland Trailblazers have been in good shape as they’ve won seven of their past 11 games, but they will be hoping to put an end to a two-game skid after falling short against the shorthanded Nets in a 116-112 home loss on Tuesday. Damian Lillard led the team with 22 points and nine assists on five of 17 shooting, Enes Kanter added 19 points with 19 rebounds and six assists, CJ McCollum scored 16 points on five of 19 shooting while Carmelo Anthony chipped in with 15 points off the bench. As a team, the Trailblazers shot just 40 percent from the field and 19 of 55 from the 3-point line as they jumped out of the gates with 41 points in the first quarter and hung in the contest, before falling just short as they managed just 21 points in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, the Miami Heat have been in a bit of a rut as they will be eager to put an end to a four-game skid after getting routed by the Suns in a 110-100 home loss on Tuesday. Kendrick Nunn led the team with 25 points on 10 of 19 shooting, Bam Adebayo added 16 points with eight rebounds and six assists while Jimmy Butler chipped in with 14 points and 11 rebounds, but no other player scored more than seven points. As a team, the Heat shot just 41 percent from the field and 13 of 36 from the 3-point line as they were slow to get going and quickly found themselves trailing by 15 points at halftime, only to see the margin balloon out to 23 points in the third quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Trailblazers are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a loss and 2-7 ATS in their last nine games overall. The Heat are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games, 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall and the over is 5-1 in the last six meetings in Miami.
The Trailblazers were playing their best basketball of the season before dropping their last two games, so they will be eager to get back in the win column, while the Heat will take any win they can get as they’ve lost four in a row to drop back to .500 on the season. This one is tough to pick, but you don't see Lillard having many poor shooting nights, so I think he'll bounce back with a big game here after shooting just five of 17 on Tuesday. This one could go either way, but I'm leaning towards the Trailblazers to bounce back with a win here.
