The Toronto Raptors and Houston Rockets meet Monday in NBA action at the Toyota Center.
The Toronto Raptors need a win here to snap an eight game losing streak. The Toronto Raptors are averaging 112.4 points on 44.9 percent shooting and allowing 112.2 points on 45.9 percent shooting. Pascal Siakam is averaging 20.1 points and 4.8 assists while Fred VanVleet is averaging 19.8 points and 4.4 rebounds. Norman Powell is the third double-digit scorer and Kyle Lowry is grabbing 5.6 rebounds. The Toronto Raptors are shooting 38.1 percent from beyond the arc and 82.6 percent from the free throw line. The Toronto Raptors are allowing 37.5 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 41 rebounds per game.
The Houston Rockets are still looking for their first victory since February 4. The Houston Rockets are averaging 106.7 points on 43.3 percent shooting and allowing 113.7 points on 46.9 percent shooting. Christian Wood is averaging 21.7 points and 10.2 rebounds while Victor Oladipo is averaging 21.1 points and 4.9 assists. John Wall is the third double-digit scorer and Kevin Porter Jr. is grabbing three rebounds. The Houston Rockets are shooting 32.5 percent from beyond the arc and 74.1 percent from the free throw line. The Houston Rockets are allowing 37.7 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 42.4 rebounds per game.
The Raptors are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games playing on 0 days rest and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Rockets are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games playing on 0 days rest and 16-39 ATS in their last 55 games overall. The over is 11-4 in Raptors last 15 road games. The under is 36-14-1 in Rockets last 51 home games. The over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in Houston and 7-3 in the last 10 meetings.
I'm not eager to lay this much chalk with a Raptors team that's lost eight straight games and is losing their last five games by an average of 10.2 points. However, as I've said many times in the past, the Rockets are unbackable until further notice. The Rockets have not only lost 20 straight games, but they're an even worse 12-29 against the spread on the season. The Rockets are 5-11 against the spread when an underdog of five or more points. It's Raptors or pass for me.
