The Detroit Pistons pay a visit to the Houston Rockets at the Toyota Center on Friday night.
The Detroit Pistons have been in a slump as they’ve lost 10 of their past 13 games, but they will be looking to build some momentum after sneaking past the depleted Raptors in a 116-112 home win on Wednesday. Saddiq Bey led the team with 28 points, 12 rebounds and two assists, Jerami Grant added 23 points, Delon Wright scored 18 points with 10 rebounds and eight assists while Josh Jackson chipped in with 16 points and six assists off the bench. As a team, the Pistons shot 50 percent from the field and 12 of 29 from the 3-point line as they got off to a hot start with 37 points in the first quarter, before holding on for the narrow win after the Raptors cut their 12-point lead to just two points late.
Meanwhile, the Houston Rockets have been in a serious slump as they will be hoping to put an end to their 18-game losing streak after falling to the Warriors in a 108-94 loss on Wednesday. Kevin Porter Jr. led the team with 25 points and seven assists, Christian Wood added 21 points with nine rebounds on eight of 12 shooting while Kenyon Martin Jr. chipped in with 13 points and nine rebounds off the bench. As a team, the Rockets shot just 41 percent from the field and seven of 27 from the 3-point line, but they were always fighting an uphill battle after getting outscored by 37-17 in the second quarter. Sterling Brown scored just four points on one of seven shooting, while Jae’Sean Tate scored just two points on one of nine shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pistons are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine games following a win. The Rockets are 6-20 ATS in their last 26 home games, 3-13 ATS in their last 16 games following a double-digit loss at home and 16-38 ATS in their last 54 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 13-5 in the last 18 meetings in Houston, the Pistons are 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings overall and the Pistons are 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings in Houston.
John Wall and Ben McLemore are both listed as questionable while Eric Gordon has already been ruled out. The Pistons were really struggling before their narrow win over the shorthanded Raptors, but it’s hard to get consistent success if the only consistent scorer is Jerami Grant. It’s hard to bet on either team with much confidence, but the Rockets' lineup looks slightly better with Wood back in action, so I'm taking the Rockets to end their losing streak in this one,.
