The Oklahoma City Thunder play host to the New York Knicks at the Chesapeake Energy Arena on Saturday afternoon.
The New York Knicks have been in great form lately as they’ve won eight of their past 12 games, but they will be hoping to bounce back here after getting routed by the Bucks in a disappointing 134-101 road loss on Thursday. RJ Barrett led the team with 22 points on nine of 15 shooting, Alec Burks added 17 points with eight assists off the bench while Immanuel Quickley chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Knicks shot just 41 percent from the field and 13 of 37 from the 3-point line as they struggled right from the tipoff and never looked threatening after falling behind by 17 points going into halftime. Elfrid Payton scored just 10 points on four of 14 shooting, while Julius Randle scored just seven points on three of 12 shooting.
Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder have been in decent form lately as they’ve won five of their past eight games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after taking down the Mavericks in a 116-108 home win on Thursday. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the team with 32 points and six assists, Al Horford added 21 points with nine rebounds and two blocks while Luguentz Dort chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Thunder shot 45 percent from the field and 16 of 32 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates to an early 21-point lead after holding the Mavericks to just 19 points in the first quarter, before holding on for the narrow win after things tightened up in the fourth quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 5-0 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record, 6-0 ATS in their last six games following a loss and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games overall. The Thunder are 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine Saturday games and 47-21 ATS in their last 68 games playing on one days’ rest.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall, the Knicks are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings overall and the Knicks are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in Oklahoma City.
The Knicks are coming into this one with a bit of momentum as they were on a nice run before getting routed by the Bucks on Thursday, while the Thunder have found some form with a couple of wins on the trot. Elfrid Payton and Immanuel Quickley are both listed as questionable for this one, so the Knicks could be shorthanded, while the Thunder will be without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Darius Bazley. The Thunder have great win their win over the red-hot Mavericks in their last outing, but it’s going to be tough to replicate that effort without their best player, so I’m taking the Knicks to get the win and cover in this one.
