The Philadelphia 76ers invade the Capital One Arena to take on the Washington Wizards on Friday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers have been in terrific form as they’ve won seven of their past nine games and they will be aiming for a fourth straight victory after last night’s 127-105 road win over the Bulls. Tobias Harris led the team with 24 points, Dwight Howard added 18 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks off the bench, Furkan Korkmaz scored 16 points while Seth Curry chipped in with 12 points and seven assists. As a team, the 76ers shot 51 percent from the field and 10 of 33 from the 3-point line as they took the early lead by holding the Bulls to just 23 points in the first quarter, before running away with it in the second half where they outscored the Bulls by 63-48. Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons were both sitting out due to health and safety protocols.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in great form as they’ve won eight of their last 12 games, but they will be looking to bounce back here after getting routed by the Grizzlies in a 127-112 road loss on Wednesday. Bradley Beal led the team with 21 points and five assists, Russell Westbrook added 20 points with 10 assists while Davis Bertans chipped in with 13 points off the bench. As a team, the Wizards shot 40 percent from the field and 11 of 36 from the 3-point line as they got off to a slow start in the first quarter where they allowed 35 points, before getting blown out in the fourth quarter as the Grizzlies finished in a flurry. Bradley Beal shot just six of 22 from the field, while Rui Hachimura scored just 11 points on three of 10 shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 13-36-2 ATS in their last 52 road games, 0-5 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days’ rest and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Wizards are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team above .600 and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games overall.
Head to head, the 76ers are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings in Washington and the 76ers are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The 76ers must have taken so much confidence from last night’s blowout win over the Bulls as they did it without their two best players in Embiid and Simmons. The Wizards have cooled off a bit lately and they weren’t anywhere near their best in Wednesday’s loss, but they’re never going to get a better shot at the 76ers who will be severely shorthanded once again. The 76ers are just 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings overall and they’re playing on zero days’ rest, so I’m taking the Wizards with the points in a game they could easily win outright.
