The Washington Wizards travel to the FedExForum to do battle with the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night.
The Washington Wizards will be looking to pick up from where they left off before the All-Star break as they’ve won eight of their past 11 games and they will be looking to keep that momentum going after beating the Clippers in a 119-117 win on Thursday. Bradley Beal led the team with 33 points on nine of 23 shooting, Russell Westbrook racked up 27 points with nine rebounds and 11 assists, while Davis Bertans and Raul Neto each scored 11 points. As a team, the Wizards shot 45 percent from the field and nine of 23 from the 3-point line as they trailed early on by as many as 16 points, before escaping with the narrow win after going on a pivotal 11-0 run late in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies haven’t been at their best, but they were on a nice run of three wins in four games, before getting stopped by the Bucks in a heartbreaking 112-111 home loss on Thursday. Ja Morant led the team with 35 points and five assists, Dillon Brooks added 23 points with seven assists while Jonas Valanciunas chipped in with 13 points and 12 rebounds, but no other player finished in double figures in scoring. As a team, the Grizzlies shot just 39 percent from the field and eight of 34 from the 3-point line as they rallied back from an early 18-point deficit to take the lead on a Morant layup with just 7.3 seconds remaining, only to have the game slip from their hands on the following possession as the Bucks’ Jrue Holiday drained the game winner with just 2.0 seconds remaining.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games as an underdog, 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Grizzlies are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings overall, the Wizards are 1-6 ATS in the last seven meetings overall and the Wizards are 5-15-1 ATS in the last 21 meetings in Memphis.
These two teams played each other just last Tuesday and it was the Grizzlies who strolled to a 125-111 road win behind 35 points from Morant. The Grizzlies weren’t able to follow that up with another win as they were pipped by the Bucks in the final seconds on Thursday, so they’ve had plenty of time to stew on that loss. With that being said, the Wizards have been in red-hot form and could easily pull off the upset here, but I like the Grizzlies to resume their season with a much-needed win behind another big game from Morant.
