The Indiana Pacers pay a visit to the Boston Celtics at the TD Garden on Friday night.
The Indiana Pacers have been in decent shape as they’ve won three of their last five games, but they will be hoping to bounce back after losing to the Warriors in a 111-107 home loss on Wednesday. Malcolm Brogdon led the team with 24 points on 10 of 20 shooting, Domantas Sabonis added 22 points with 16 rebounds and four assists while Doug McDermott and Myles Turner scored 15 and 14 points respectively. As a team, the Pacers shot 45 percent from the field and seven of 29 from the 3-point line as they took the lead at halftime with 36 points in the second quarter, before going cold late in the fourth quarter as they managed just nine points in the final 4:35.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have really been struggling lately as they’ve lost six of their past eight games and they will be hoping to snap a three-game skid after getting routed by the Hawks in a 127-112 road loss on Wednesday. Jaylen Brown led the team with 17 points and five assists, Jeff Teague added 14 points with five assists while Tristan Thompson and Jayson Tatum each scored 13 points. As a team, the Celtics shot 44 percent from the field and eight of 31 from the 3-point line as they struggled right from the tipoff and were never threatening after falling behind by 23 points going into halftime. Tatum had a night to forget as he shot just four of 20 from the field and one of eight from the 3-point line.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pacers are 0-4 ATS in their last four games as an underdog and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 road games against a team with a home record above .600. The Celtics are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 home games, 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games following a loss of more than 10 points and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall and the Pacers are 2-5-2 ATS in the last nine meetings overall.
The Pacers will be keen to bounce back after their narrow loss to the Warriors on Wednesday and they’ve run into the Celtics at just the right time as they’ve been really struggling lately. The Pacers weren’t able to get the job done following their long layoff and they are only 3-8 ATS in their last 11 road games, but the Celtics haven’t been themselves ever since Marcus Smart went down and I think their struggles will continue in this one. Give me the Pacers to escape with the minor upset in this one.
