The Dallas Mavericks pay a visit to the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center on Thursday night.
The Dallas Mavericks have been in terrific form lately as they’ve won six of their last seven games and they will be aiming for a third straight win after outlasting the Celtics in a 110-107 home win on Tuesday. Luka Doncic led the team with 31 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, Jalen Brunson added 22 points off the bench while Josh Richardson chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Mavericks shot 47 percent from the field and 13 of 33 from the 3-point line as they looked to be headed for overtime after the Celtics’ Jaylen Brown tied the game with 9.5 seconds left, before Doncic stole the game with a clutch 3-pointer with just 0.7 seconds remaining.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have been in decent form lately as they’ve won three of their last four games and they will be looking to stay hot after taking down the Raptors in a 109-102 road win on Tuesday. Tobias Harris led the team with 23 points, seven rebounds and five assists, Furkan Korkmaz added 19 points, Joel Embiid scored 18 points while Ben Simmons chipped in with 15 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. As a team, the 76ers shot just 41 percent from the field and 17 of 38 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates to an early 21-point lead after holding the Raptors to just 18 points in the first quarter, before holding off the Raptors in the fourth quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record, 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road games and 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games overall. The 76ers are 6-2 ATS in their last eight home games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games playing on one days’ rest and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the lats five meetings in Philadelphia and the Mavericks are 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
Kristaps Porzingis is currently listed as questionable for Thursday with back stiffness, so the Mavericks could be shorthanded once again in this one. The 76ers are coming into this one with plenty of momentum after taking down the in-form Raptors in their last outing, but the Mavericks are playing some of their best basketball of the season with Doncic leading the way. This is a tough one to pick, but with Porzingis likely to miss out again, I’m leaning towards the deeper 76ers to edge out a win here.
