The Cleveland Cavaliers play host to the Atlanta Hawks at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Tuesday night.
The Atlanta Hawks have been in a real slump lately as they’ve lost five of their last seven games, but they will be looking to build some momentum after taking down the Nuggets in a 123-115 home win on Sunday. Trae Young led the team with 35 points and 15 assists on 10 of 19 shooting, Clint Capela added 22 points with 10 rebounds on eight of nine shooting while John Collins and Danilo Gallinari each scored 12 points. As a team, the Hawks shot 51 percent from the field and 12 of 34 from the 3-point line as they took control with 37 points in the second quarter, before pushing the lead out to as many as 22 points in the third quarter where they held the Nuggets to just 20 points.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers haven’t been able to buy a win as they’re currently riding a 10-game skid after falling to the Thunder in a 117-101 home loss on Sunday. Collin Sexton led the team with 27 points on 11 of 22 shooting, Jarrett Allen added 26 points with 17 rebounds and three blocks while Darius Garland chipped in with 21 points and eight assists. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 46 percent from the field and just eight of 35 from the 3-point line as they fell behind by 11 points at halftime, before getting blown out in the fourth quarter where they fell behind by as many as 20 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record and 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team below .400. The Cavaliers are 0-6 ATS in their last six home games, 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 7-21 ATS in their last 28 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 23-9 in the last 32 meetings overall and the Hawks are 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Hawks were really struggling for a while there, but they’ve won two of their last three games and they will take plenty of confidence from their upset win over the Nuggets on Sunday. The Cavaliers have been ice-cold for a while now and it’s hard to know what they’re feeling after getting routed by the slumping Thunder in their last outing. The Cavaliers are 0-6 ATS in their last six home games and I think that trend continues as the Hawks should be good enough to escape with the win and cover here.
