The Detroit Pistons pay a visit to the Memphis Grizzlies at the FedExForum on Friday night.
The Detroit Pistons have quietly been in pretty good form lately as they’ve won three of their last five games, but they will be hoping to bounce back after falling just short against the Bulls in a 105-102 road loss on Wednesday. Jerami Grant led the team with 43 points on 15 of 25 shooting, Saddiq Bey and Delon Wright each scored 12 points while Mason Plumlee chipped in with 11 points. As a team, the Pistons shot 45 percent from the field and eight of 28 from the 3-point line as they dominated the first half to lead by as many as 25 points, before collapsing in the second half as they couldn’t recover after scoring just 12 points in a pivotal third quarter.
Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies have been building nicely with three wins in their last five games and they will be looking to stay hot after taking down the shorthanded Thunder in a 122-113 home win on Wednesday. Jonas Valanciunas led the team with 22 points on nine of 12 shooting, Grayson Allen added 22 points on seven of 13 shooting, Dillon Brooks scored 17 points while Ja Morant chipped in with a triple-double of 15 points with 11 rebounds and 12 assists. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 50 percent from the field and 12 of 26 from the 3-point line as they couldn’t gain any separation from the pesky Thunder until the fourth quarter where they went on a pivotal 19-3 run to pull away and escape with the much-needed win.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pistons are 5-2 ATS in their last seven Friday games and 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine games playing on one days’ rest. The Grizzlies are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games against a team below .400 and 2-6 ATS in their last eight home games against a team with a losing road record.
Head to head, the under is 8-3-1 in the last 12 meetings in Memphis and the Pistons are 5-16 ATS in the last 21 meetings overall.
The Pistons have begun to pick up their play in recent games, but they will be hoping to bounce back after Wednesday’s loss to the Bulls, while the Grizzlies are slowly heating up after a nice win over the Thunder in their last outing. The Pistons’ role players are playing for positions at this stage with the trade deadline looming, so they’re a dangerous unit, but I’m sticking with the more reliable Grizzlies to continue their nice run with a narrow win and cover here.
