The Philadelphia 76ers play host to the Houston Rockets at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday night.
The Houston Rockets have been in a serious slump as they’ve lost seven of their past eight games and they will be hoping to put an end to a six-game slide after getting routed by the league-worst Wizards in a 131-119 road loss on Monday. John Wall led the team with 29 points and 11 assists on 10 of 26 shooting, David Nwaba added 19 points with 11 rebounds, Jae’Sean Tate added 18 points while Danuel House Jr. chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Rockets shot 47 percent from the field and eight of 37 from the 3-point line as they poured in 69 points in the first half, before going ice-cold in the third quarter where they managed just 20 points to fall behind by as many as 18 points.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have been in a bit of a rut lately as they’ve lost four of their past six games and they will be hoping to stop a three-game skid after falling to the streaking Jazz in a 134-123 road loss on Monday. Ben Simmons led the team with 42 points, nine rebounds and 12 assists on 15 of 26 shooting, Tobias Harris added 36 points with 10 rebounds while Dwight Howard chipped in with 14 points, 12 rebounds and one block in place of the injured Joel Embiid. As a team, the 76ers shot 50 percent from the field and eight of 23 from the 3-point line as they jumped out of the gates with 42 points in the first quarter, before getting run down in the second and third quarters where the Jazz outscored them by a combined 71-52.
Looking at the betting trends, the Rockets are 0-4 ATS in their last four road games, 3-14 ATS in their last 17 games following a loss of more than 10 points and 0-6 ATS in their last six games overall. The 76ers are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games following a loss of more than 10 points.
Head to head, the under is 4-0 in the last four meetings overall, the Rockets are 1-7 ATS in the last eight meetings in Philadelphia and the Rockets are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.
Christian Wood is still out injured, Victor Oladipo and Eric Gordon are listed as doubtful, while PJ Tucker is listed as questionable for Wednesday so the Rockets could be severely shorthanded once again. Meanwhile, the 76ers will get a major boost as Joel Embiid is expected to return to the lineup after being a late scratch on Monday. The Rockets are just 1-7 ATS in the last eight meetings in Philadelphia, they are shorthanded and playing some of their worst basketball of the season. I’ll take the 76ers to bounce back into form with an easy win here.
