The San Antonio Spurs and the Atlanta Hawks collide at the State Farm Arena on Friday night.
The San Antonio Spurs have been in pretty good form lately as they've won six of their past eight games, but they will be hoping to bounce back here after having their three-game win streak halted by the Warriors in a 114-91 home loss on Tuesday. Rudy Gay led the team with 17 points off the bench, Keldon Johnson and Patty Mills each scored 13 points while DeMar DeRozan chipped in with 12 points and six assists. As a team, the Spurs shot just 37 percent from the field and eight of 24 from the 3-point line as they hung in the contest until the third quarter where they got outscored by 36-20 to fall behind by as many as 24 points.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have been in a rut as they've lost four of their last five games and they will be looking to bounce back after falling just short to the Mavericks in a heartbreaking 118-117 road loss on Wednesday. John Collins led the team with 33 points on 13 of 18 shooting, Trae Young added 25 points with 15 assists while Kevin Huerter chipped in with 23 points on nine of 15 shooting. As a team, the Hawks shot 45 percent from the field and 14 of 39 from the 3-point line as they squandered a 13-point lead, before losing by the smallest margin as the referees seemingly missed a foul call on the final play for the Hawks.
Looking at the betting trends, the Spurs are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 road games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games playing on two days' rest. The Hawks are 6-0 ATS in their last six games as a favorite and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games playing on one days' rest.
Head to head, the under is 5-1 in the last six meetings overall and the Spurs are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Spurs were in great form before getting routed by the Warriors in their last outing, while the Hawks have really struggled over their last five games or so. The Spurs will be shorthanded as they will be without LaMarcus Aldridge, while Rajon Rondo is likely out for the Hawks. This should be a close one, but the Spurs are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 road games and I think they'll get the win here.
