The Toronto Raptors and the Washington Wizards duke it out at the Capital One Arena on Wednesday night.
The Toronto Raptors have been on a nice run lately as they've won four of their last five games and they will be looking to stay hot after blowing past the Grizzlies in a 128-113 road win on Monday. Pascal Siakam led the team with 32 points and six assists on 11 of 18 shooting, Fred VanVleet added 32 points with nine assists while Norman Powell chipped in with 29 points on 10 of 17 shooting. As a team, the Raptors shot a healthy 54 percent from the field and 20 of 37 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in trouble after allowing 70 points in the first half to trail by as many as 10 points, before rallying in the fourth quarter where they outscored the Grizzlies by 34-16 to win easily in the end.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in rough shape as they've lost seven of their past 10 games, but they will be aiming to build some momentum after edging past the Bulls in a 105-101 road win on Monday. Bradley Beal led the team with 35 points and seven assists, Rui Hachimura added 19 points with 10 rebounds while Alex Len chipped in with 13 points on five of five shooting. As a team, the Wizards shot just 41 percent from the field and six of 26 from the 3-point line as they looked to be cruising to an easy win, before having to hold off a late rally from the Bulls. Russell Westbrook was rested for this game but he is expected to be available on Wednesday.
Looking at the betting trends, the Raptors are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games, 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Wizards are 2-6 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a losing record, 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a losing record.
Head to head, the over is 6-0 in the last six meetings overall.
The Raptors look to finally be in a groove after a slow start to the season and it's encouraging to see that it's been a team effort as they had three players score at least 29 points in their last game. The Wizards have been slowly getting better this season, but they will take plenty of confidence from their win on Monday and they will have Westbrook back in the lineup after he was rested. This should be close for the most part, but in the end I have the Raptors maintaining their momentum with a solid road win here.
