The New York Knicks play host to the Miami Heat at Madison Square Garden on Sunday afternoon.
The Miami Heat have been in a serious slump lately as they’ve lost seven of their past nine games, but they will be looking to build some momentum in this one after taking down the Wizards in a 122-95 blowout on Friday. Kendrick Nunn led the team with 25 points on 11 of 17 shooting off the bench, Bam Adebayo added 21 points while Kelly Olynyk and Tyler Herro each scored 17 points. As a team, the Heat shot 49 percent from the field and 16 of 37 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 40 points in the first quarter and never looked back as they dominated the game to lead by as many as 37 points, before easing off in the fourth quarter where they scored just 16 points.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been in a slump lately as they’ve lost five of their past eight games, but they will be aiming for a third straight win after last night’s 110-99 home win over the Trailblazers. Julius Randle led the team with 22 points, 11 rebounds and four assists, Elfrid Payton added 22 points on 10 of 19 shooting, RJ Barrett scored 18 points while Alec Burks chipped in with 16 points off the bench. As a team, the Knicks shot 50 percent from the field and 13 of 30 from the 3-point line as they suffered a slow start and fell behind early, before taking control in the second quarter where they held the Trailblazers to just 20 points. The Knicks were able to keep up the effort in the second half where they pushed the lead out to 15 points, before holding on for the much-needed win.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 games against a team with a losing record, 0-5 ATS in their last five road games against a team with a losing home record and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Knicks are 5-12-1 ATS in their last 18 games playing on zero days’ rest, 2-6 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a losing record and 5-1 ATS in their last six home games against a team with a losing road record.
Head to head, the under is 17-4 in the last 21 meetings in New York, the Heat are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Heat are 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings in New York.
Goran Dragic has been ruled out for Sunday, so the Heat will be shorthanded for this one, but they won’t miss him if Nunn is able to light it up off the bench like he did on Friday. The Knicks have come to life with a couple of wins on the trot, but they will be playing this one on zero days’ rest which is always a tough task. The Heat are 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings in New York and I think they will take advantage here and come away with another much-needed win.
