The Portland Trailblazers pay a visit to the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Saturday afternoon.
The Portland Trailblazers have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their last seven games and they will be aiming for a third straight win after upsetting the 76ers in a 121-105 road win on Thursday. Gary Trent Jr. led the team with 24 points on eight of 23 shooting, Carmelo Anthony added 22 points with five assists, Enes Kanter scored 17 points with 18 rebounds while Rodney Hood chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Trailblazers shot 45 percent from the field and 13 of 31 from the 3-point line as they hung in a close contest in the first half, before taking control of the game with 40 points in the third quarter to lead by as many as 29 points before easing off in the fourth quarter. Damian Lillard sat out the game with an abdomen strain, but he is expected to be available on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost five of their last seven games, but they will be aiming to build some momentum after outlasting the Bulls in a 107-103 road win on Wednesday. Julius Randle led the team with 27 points and six assists on 11 of 20 shooting, Elfrid Payton added 20 points with eight rebounds and four assists while RJ Barrett chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Knicks shot 48 percent from the field and 11 of 22 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates and led by as many as 19 points early on, before holding off the Bulls in a more competitive second half to finish with the much-needed win.
Looking at the betting trends, the Trailblazers are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games, 6-13-1 ATS in their last 20 games following a win of more than 10 points and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Knicks are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games playing on two days’ rest and 8-20 ATS in their last 28 home games against a team with a winning road record.
Head to head, the under is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings overall, the Trailblazers are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Trailblazers are 6-14-1 ATS in the last 21 meetings in New York.
There was some concern that Lillard wasn’t going to be available in this one, but he is currently listed as probable which is great news for the Trailblazers who are already shorthanded. The Knicks have shown glimpses of their potential this season, but they're currently in a rut and were far from convincing in their narrow win over the Bulls in their last outing. The Trailblazers are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games and I'm going to back that trend to continue in this one behind a big game from Lillard.
